Meggie joined our family on September 24, 2023 as a foster from Border Collie Save and Rescue.

Stats:

  • 17 inches tall at the withers, 26 pounds.
  • Two years old.
  • Her previous owner, an elderly breeder in Louisiana, surrendered her to rescue on 8/11/2023.
  • Spayed on 10/25/2023.
  • Completed heartworm treatment on 12/28/2023.
  • Medically cleared to resume normal activities on 1/28/2024.
  • Successfully completed Basic Manners class on 2/25/24 at Lucky Dog, a center specializing in sport dog training. Ongoing enrollment in Advanced Manners class.

Personality:
  • Perfect dog as a single companion, a busy multi-dog family, sports, adventure partner, a lap cuddler, and convenient for travel and outings. 
  • Great with all people, and even loves visiting her veterinarian. 
  • Allows everyone to pet and handle her, including strangers, men with beards, and veterinarian staff.
  • Her athleticism and excellent food, toy, and tug drive make her a promising sport prospect.
  • Super intelligent and loves learning.
  • Sire is full border collie and dam is 1/2 border collie 1/2 mini Australian shepherd.

Glowing attributes:
  • Potty trained, has nice leash skills, crate trained, and loves going for walks. 
  • Meggie was slow to warm up to other dogs, but now gets along with our three resident dogs, sleeps on the same bed, and plays with all of her sibling dogs.
  • Mild separation anxiety is alleviated by leaving Meggie in a plastic (rather than wire) Ruffland crate with interesting chew toys and a DAP collar/diffuser available at any pet supply store. 
  • Barks at noises such as faucet water or thunder then recovers quickly.
  • High toy, tug, and food drive, excellent for learning with positive reinforcement training.
  • Charming lunch date at pubs and restaurants, always getting compliments on her perfect behavior. 
  • Meggie loves learning and is very motivated to do what her person teaches.
